Hacken vs PSG: Can Stubborn Swedish Side that Beat Real, Beat PSG in Quarters

The UEFA Women’s Champions League is edging close to the finish line and before we know which two teams will be fighting over the trophy in the final, French giants, Paris Saint Germain, will have to overcome a stubborn Swedish side, Hacken away in Sweden.

The quarter-finalists of the last edition of the competition will have to get a great result in the first leg of the game if they are to get the job done in the two legs over this Swedish side that qualified from a group with Chelsea, Paris FC, and Real Madrid.

Hacken Might not Seem it but they’re a Very Stubborn Side

The Swedish side, regulars in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, and last placed team in their group in the 2021/2022 season, in the current edition of the competition, might seem like a very harmless side but they are more harmful than many know.

Hacken W beat Real Madrid Femenino home and away, beat and drew against Paris FC, and then drew English giants and semi-finalists of the competition last season, Chelsea at the Bridge.

They went on to finish 2nd in that group ahead of the Spanish and French giants, a feat they would have felt was deserved and an improvement from finishing second in their league last season.

Paris Saint Germain has not Been Great but don’t be fooled

Paris Saint Germain women’s team has not been as impressive as they would have liked in the group stages of the UEFA Women’s Champions League this season or in their domestic league, but that should not fool anyone, especially not their opponents in this quarter final game.

The French giants, semi-finalists in the last two editions before last season’s, in which they were quarter-finalists, lost two of their games in the group stages against Dutch giants Ajax and German side Bayern, whom they drew another game against.

Away from that they are 2nd in the French Women’s League, 7 points away from leaders, Lyon and while all that might not scream a scary side like Barcelona or Chelsea, the PSG women’s team are not that far off these teams.

They beat the Italian Women’s League current champions, Roma, both home and away, beat the Dutch Women’s League champs Ajax, and drew the German Women’s League Champions Bayern too in their group stages all while they had drawn with the French League champions in Lyon away in the French league on February 11th.

Having gotten such results against all these former and current champions should tell anyone that this PSG Women’s side might not be too far off a Barcelona Femenino or a Chelsea Women’s team.

Match Stats

In their last 8 games in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, Hacken W has been undefeated on 7 occasions including games from previous seasons.

In their last 6 away games in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, Paris SG (W) have a poor record of just 1 win. However, PSG are unbeaten in 6 away games in all competitions currently.

PSG haven't lost in 15 matches in all competitions and have also won the previous 2 matches against BK Häcken (W) (2-0, 2-1).

Hacken W have suffered just one defeat in their last 5 games (3-1 to Chelsea W) in all competitions, which all happen to be in the UWCL because their league season has not started yet.
