An MSport Nigeria customer, who also happens to be a student at the University of Calabar (UniCal), has said in an interview with MSport for its ‘Big Winner Corner’ after recently winning an estimated three million nine hundred naira (3,900,000 N) that he survived on odds.
“You know, like I said, I'm a student. I'm a student of UniCal. Okay, so mostly I survive on odds. My own is just let me have odds, then I'll survive. So, winning this money is something I've always been praying for.”
The UniCal student, who went by Sampson, staked 4,000 N on twenty-one (21) football matches from very unpopular and lesser-known leagues like the Spain Amateur Tercera Federacion Group 2, Austria Amateur Regionalliga West, Serbia Srpska Liga Belgrade, Serbia Srpska Liga Istok, Israel U19 Premier Division 1, Brazil U20 Carioca Serie A2.
He also decided to only stake on first-half under 0.5 to first-half under 2.5 goals and said when asked why he chose these particular market options that he realized that for most of these lower leagues, they did not score a lot of goals in their games and when they scored, most were in the 2nd half.
“Do you know that in most matches they score most goals in the second half? Do you notice such like that? So, now even Man City is playing with the least team like, let me say it like, let me use Bolton that they are in the second division, do you understand?”
Asked why he chose to ignore the top leagues like EPL, La Liga, Bundesliga etc in the first place, Sampson said he had learnt from experience after previously trying those leagues that because of the serious level of competition, it was very difficult to predict games.
“So why I decided to go with those particular teams was because, you know I’ve been placing bets like several times and I've noticed that once you are playing the most popular team, the most popular league that everybody knows,…
“…Man City, Chelsea, Arsenal, you end up, you end up at the end of the day, no matter how you construct the game, no matter how you study the game, no matter how you focus the game, you must always have a cut 1.”
“Like I just, I just wanted to, I just wanted to, I just wanted to picture something which I did and it worked out. So, I have to tell somebody not to play all these popular leagues. It's not as if it's not good, it's good, but you end up, you end up having issues. That is the truth.”
“So, now even if City is playing with the least team like Bolton, you notice that if Bolton have a little strength, their goal will not be much that first half because they still have that strength. Yeah. They will be defending. So, it is only in the second half that there will be much goal.”
Sampson also disclosed to MSport in the interview that while he had won thousands of Naira before on MSports, this was his first ever million.
“I’ve won big on MSport but not million. This is the first time I'm winning million on MSport. But I've won three hundred (300) and something thousand. I've won two hundred thousand (200,000). This is just the first time I'm winning a million.”
Sampson described the feeling of seeing his bet winnings in his MSport account as massive, disclosing that he and his friends went out to have fun with some of it later that day.
“That day I spent. I spent on some drinks and all of that. That day I spent just 100,000. It did not even, it did not even move everything, but the money is there intact. I'm not touching”, he stated.
Sampson’s NGN 3,935,568.29 win happened on September 8th from 21 football matches on MSport.
